I believe in Butterfly Moments
Have you ever had an experience that just stopped you? Literally, stop you, and everything around you? Where it seems, like time stood still. An event may have seemed like hours when in reality it was only minutes or even seconds.
I call these experiences AWAKENINGS. DavidJi, spiritual teacher and meditation guru, calls them Butterfly Moments; transformations in your life when you are as you are and then something happens and you come out completely different. Check out his book “Sacred Powers”.
As a career coach, LinkedIn brand builder, and Lovitude Soul Painter I have more than 30,000 people and I enjoy asking them about their why as I write their LinkedIn profiles. They’ll often share an experience, near-death event, spiritual awakening, or life lesson that turned their career and life in a new direction.
My Awakening on 12th Street in Downtown Minneapolis
I have never shared this with anyone as it has taken me many years to process it because I thought that it was a hallucination. But here is my first awakening moment that changed my life and began moving me in a more spiritual direction.
It’s late April 1983, early evening, around 4:30 pm. It’s starting to get dark and there is a sudden snow bust. I am driving across Hennepin Ave on 12th St. in downtown Minneapolis. The snow is making it hard for me to see through my car windows.
I am working as a Sales Representative with Valleyfair, an amazing theme park in Shakopee, MN. It is the best job ever (but I say that about all my jobs). I was delivering 3,000 theme park tickets to my client AT&T in downtown Minneapolis.
Driving my blue Ford Escort with my windshield wipers whipping as fast as they can go, I cross the intersection of 12th street and a street person (a homeless woman) suddenly appears in front of my car.
She is pushing an overflowing grocery cart filled with her life’s treasures — black garbage bags, paper sacks, and a sleeping bag. She was wearing a blue ‘house coat’ with no outer jacket, no hat, worn-down brown shoes, pantyhose with holes in them, and no gloves. It’s snowing.
She was Me!
As the woman turned to look at me, I felt everything stop. The homeless woman was me. Yes, I was that homeless woman. She had my same brown hair (at the time I was a brunette), my same green/hazel eyes, my same smile as she smiled at me, and my same features.
We’re all One
I heard a message/voice from my soul/intuition the Divine that said, “yes, that’s you, Anne. We’re all one.” I realized that the person could be me, my family members, or my friends. Compassion filled my heart as it does now as I reflect back on the experience.
She Vanished
After what seemed like hours, I felt my body back in the car. The car began to move forward. The woman had vanished, there was no sign of her in any direction. The snow had stopped.
I Was Changed for Good
From that day forward I knew that experience was an AWAKENING lesson. I came to understand that we are all connected, that we are all one. People are put in our paths to be teachers, way showers, memory makers, and life changers.
During my time at Valleyfair, when I would work in Downtown Minneapolis I would take bags of clothes, shoes, makeup, towels, toothbrushes, and snacks (which I would get as seconds from Snyder Drug and other stores) and leave them at locations where I would see our homeless teachers.
When I had early morning meetings Downtown, I would park in lots near dumpsters and greet our homeless teachers as they crawled out of their cocoons to start their day. Yes, they sleep in dumpsters. (In New York City the garbage collectors always check the dumpsters before they pick up the trash, as so many sleep there.)
The Lessons
I became curious. I wanted to understand more about why people are homeless so I volunteered at Simpson Housing. I would be the night volunteer, watching over 48 homeless men as they slept in make-shift mattresses covered with a sheet, pillow, and blanket on the gym floor. Ask me about the lessons I learned from these teachers! God blesses all of our homeless and their helpers.
I started my spiritual quest that year and it’s taken me to amazing places inside myself, with master teachers, and beyond. You’ll begin hearing about the 4th Dimension in the near future. This experience was a 4th D experience. An experience of complete ONENESS. I use LinkedIn as a 3rd Dimensional tool to help my clients get what they want in the 3D, and meditation is my 4D tool.
We all have AWAKENINGS and if we are present we will experience them and they will change our lives. That’s why I live at the intersection of business and soul. My life’s purpose is to help people bring their souls to work, and I’m not afraid to tell these stories because I know that we’re all connected, we’re here to do our highest and greatest good, we need each other, and what happens to you happens to me!

Anne was not an artist before these messages, she now has 4,000 soul paintings. During her keynote speeches and presentations, she paints live for audiences and they are moved and in awe by the colorful and meaningful messages that she receives from the audience’s energy.
